This is ever famous “Geoffrey the Giraffe”, he has finally grown up, however he is definitely no longer a “Toys’’R’’Us Kid.”

For 39 some years Geoffrey rep’d the world’s favorite toy store, and now, he’s now UNEMPLOYED, and IRRELEVANT!

Which is precisely where you will be as a brand if you don’t start building your brand by telling your story and connecting with people.

I know, I know, you’ve never needed a Digital Storytelling strategy before and you’re fine without one.

Sure, that is probably true, for now. But as with everything that evolves in this world, that will soon change.

Do you still use a beeper?

How about a home phone that is attached to a cord?

I didn’t think.

If the fall of Toys R Us isn’t enough evidence that we are in fact living in the AGE OF DISRUPTION, let’s not forget about that Blockbuster membership card that you “used to” carry with you, that has now become a FRICTIONLESS monthly membership that automatically bills you.

Why?

BECAUSE IT’S EASIER.

It’s frictionless.

Which is exactly the way we want it a humans, we want it RIGHT NOW and we are willing to pay whatever premium needed to do so.

Toys R Us, like Blockbuster, and home phones, and beepers and fax machines, all ran their course. Even with the best attempt at a strategy, they were doomed, thanks to the small like site called Amazon.com.

Sure, Amazon sells just about anything you would need to go to the store to purchase, but they also sell one more thing, that we ALL LOVE and are willing to pay for…CONVENIENCE!

Goodbye Geoffrey, it’s been real, and thanks for the memories!
